$68
“From within its darkness, light will dawn.”
Isaac of Nineveh writes of the soul kept in vigil through the night, sheltered by a cloud. From within that cloud's darkness, he says, the light will come.

The line
The line comes from the ascetical discourses of Isaac of Nineveh, in A. J. Wensinck's translation, Mystic Treatises by Isaac of Nineveh (1923), a text of the Syriac Christian tradition.
The words appear exactly as that translation gives them. The translation is in the public domain, and the text itself is in The Sacred Act’s library.
